The World Evangelical Alliance Children’s Network is pleased to announce the appointment of Alan Charter as Co-Coordinator, serving alongside Rev. Dr. Rebecca Goropevsek.

Charter brings years of experience in children’s ministry, advocacy and networking, including his longstanding involvement with the Global Children’s Forum, a partnering network of more than 100 organizations focused on children and the gospel.

The WEA Children’s Network was launched in 2020 to strengthen collaboration among evangelical alliances, churches and ministries serving children around the world. Rooted in the WEA’s global constituency of more than 160 national Evangelical Alliances, the network works to equip parents and churches to love, protect, guide and empower all children, while also addressing issues affecting children-at-risk.

A distinctive aspect of the WEA Children’s Network is its alliance-oriented approach, working with and through regional and national Evangelical Alliances to strengthen collaboration at the grassroots level. The network seeks to encourage alliances, connect them with global children’s ministries and resources, and support churches and families in responding to the spiritual, emotional and physical needs of children in their communities.

Rev. Dr. Rebecca Goropevsek, who has served with the WEA in various roles since 2012 and has overseen the launch and development of the Children’s Network over the past several years, welcomed Charter’s appointment.

“Alan has been involved with the Global Children’s Forum for many years and brings valuable experience in connecting ministries, encouraging collaboration and advocating for children and families,” Goropevsek said. “His heart for children, churches and partnerships aligns closely with the vision of the WEA Children’s Network, especially in our unique role of serving and strengthening national and regional Evangelical Alliances as they respond to the needs of children in their own contexts.”

Charter has served as Facilitator for the Global Children’s Forum and is also a foster carer and adoption advocate. Together with his wife Claire, he has fostered children and adopted their youngest child. He also serves as Chair of Trustees for Home for Good, a ministry supporting adoption and foster care, and is passionate about helping churches support vulnerable children and families.

The WEA Children’s Network continues to build partnerships across the global evangelical community and speak as an evangelical voice in order to equip churches and families, advocate for children-at-risk, and encourage collaborative responses to the challenges facing children worldwide.
